Yes, Stratus portable receivers can be placed upside down without causing any loss of AHRS accuracy or problems with Wi-Fi communication. This option is especially attractive in aircraft with limited dash space. If you are using AHRS, ensure that your receiver is mounted parallel to the aircraft’s centerline (that runs north and south) and the LEDs and Stratus logo are facing the back of the aircraft. Since the internal GPS antenna is located on the top of the receiver, you may see some GPS degradation. To remedy this problem, you can connect the receiver to an external GPS antenna. External GPS antennas for the Stratus 2, 2S, and 3 are available from Sporty’s.
